"...though nothing can bring back the hour of Splendour in the grass, of Glory in the flower, we will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind..."                      William Wordsworth

Once upon a time, families were close-knit communities, living on the same street, even next door but times have changed. Today's world often finds family members living far afield from one another. What better way to keep in touch than to have a family website. Especially if you are actively researching your family tree.

A custom designed family genealogy website can preserve family ties, memories and history, and there's no easier way to share the fruits of your genealogy research with photos, census images and vital records. A genealogy website is also a wonderful way to provide a loving tribute to your ancestors.

There are several ways to publish your genealogy on the Internet. You can go the route of a communal genealogy website service, some for free and others for a fee. When you upload your family tree to an existing genealogy website service, you get a generic webpage that is maintained in a huge database along with countless other trees.

An important part of genealogy is sharing which can lead to unearthing valuable information about a cherished ancestor. However, on these communal genealogy sites, your family names cannot be found through Internet search engines and thousands of potential visitors will never even find your genealogy information.

Another thing to consider is that these genealogy sites, such as Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com and Rootsweb.com, will use and publish your genealogy for their own purposes including CDs which they in turn sell to other customers and they do so without your permission.

The disadvantage of Genealogy softwares that generate webpages is unless you're an experienced web developer, as a stand alone application, there's no way to customize the webpages they generate. The result is a cookie-cutter website that does not reflect your personal tastes and ideas let alone your ancestors.

Origins Website Design knows that one size does not fit all and will build a custom designed site with your family and ancestors' heritage in mind.
